What I needed To Hear Today!

Why do I try to be lukewarm when God wants to light me up like a firecracker?

"The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure that was burried in a field and a man finding it, runs home sells everything he has and goes to buy that field!" (larissa paraphrase of Jesus!)

Stop wanting human security, Larissa! Stop fighting the refiners fire!

One-ism or Two-ism?

While looking into Worldviews I came across an argument I had been thinking about more recently since I read the book Orthodoxy by GK Chesterton (BUY AND READ IT!!) where he argues that God made the creation distinct from Himself and He was not part of it, therefore an eternal and inoperable distinction exists that makes Him the creator and us the creation. I don't think that Chesterton fully fleshed out this argument (from my memory) but it was such a touching onto truth that it sat niggling at the back of my mind and mulling through my brain. Till the other morning while doing some research for my husbands class I came across this awesome article by Peter Jones which just baited my taste for more of this information got me to thinking. One or Two? Is it really that simple?

The Cost Of Staying Salty

This might not convict you, but it sure does me! When hard things happen I am that soldier who keeps asking why things have to be so hard, dirty and dangerous. I must admit that before about 10 years ago, my vision of the christian walk was a very easy road, even easier than the road before Christ. I think I allowed myself to be misled by the "ideology" that drives most if not all of our outreach! So when the hard things occur, I'm like "why?" insert whiny voice! I even annoy myself! I need to hear these things, as I am often tempted to just stop being salty. I really have very little courage but we are working through it! Or should I say I am getting carried around alot by the savior?!

Looking For Something Cool To Read?

Now I am not a fan of biographies that tend to glorify the subject, but even though this one flirts with the line where hero worship and general historical record coincide it is still PACKED full of great information about not only Bonhoeffer, but also the lengths to which Christians and non-Christians will go to for the cause of Christ or the adversity of Him. The American church can learn alot from this theologian! I would recommend just about everything by him, even though I haven't read everything. He is the real deal, no matter how you try to hero-fy him you still cannot stop seeing the Cross of Christ! So buy it and read it!

In The Hours

But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For as by a man came death, by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive. But each in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, then at his coming those who belong to Christ. Then comes the end, when he delivers the kingdom to God the Father after destroying every rule and every authority and power. For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. The last enemy to be destroyed is death. 1 cor 15: 20-25

Christ has conquered death for us. Although, for a little while we are still fighting the battle with death, we know that in Christ it cannot triumph over us. Even in death there is victory, because in Christ there is Victory over sin! Christ killed sin in his death and in His ressurection He killed death's hold here on earth. Today I remember the promises He has made to His own and encourage you to turn away from a life of sin and death toward a life rooted in Christ.

Only What We Need Today?

Can you imgaine how different our lives of faith might be if we actually made this more important than a New Year's Resolution?

I need to move back to the Southwest! After growing up in Alaska, Spending the last 10 years in a climate more frigid than California, I think I have frozen enough for one life! Just saying, "It's Cold Outside!
