If my kids have Kids....(Take two)

In another family discussion brought about by being reminded of this post we found these facts out....

If my kids had kids…they would name thier children and pets the following:

Silas – the children would be named Cornelius and Clara and the family dog would be Dodio.

Kace –  the children would be named Firebolt and Hermione and the family cat would be Bowie (Like the knife).

Gresham – the children would be named Lightingbolt and Sally and the family dog would be Monster Truck Bolt and the cat would be Diamond.

Petra –  the children would be named Kace and Libi and the family cat would be Princess Sally.

Are we the only ones who think we have watched only Cars and Harry Potter??

Homeschooling Reminders...Not Just for The Homeschooler!

I was reading our pastor's blog recently (he isn't our current pastor, but one who has seriously encouraged and ministered to Will and I through times of great trial and is a shepherd we would both willingly follow!) and he linked an article, which Will and I both read together.

Why did we like it?

-It make us both pause.

-It made us both take inventory  of our motives in parenting.

-It made us value more dearly the precious gifts our children are to us.

-It made us remember the gospel!

-It helped us learn to remember our children aren't projects or tools for acheivement. They aren't ways we prove our fabulous skills, they aren't experiments....they are fallen people just like us who need a chance to just be themselves and live their livesfor Him, not our life. And we should give them the independence/trust/chance-even-if-they-don't-deserve-it to do so without us trying to force them into a mold that is imagined and not real.

So if you think any of these reasons for our enjoying this article are things you might identify with or if you are just curious go and check it out now.

I don't know about you, but sometimes I enjoy looking through some of our old photos and seeing how different our children are today and yet their personalities are essentially the same! Uno has always been willful and funny, sensative and loving--Dodio has always marched to the beat of a drum only he hears, active and tenatious with a workers heart--G-man is simply enjoyed living, sweet and tender, a joy to watch living his life, always with a hug even at the MOST inopportune times, gentle and reflective--Pie Pie...bossy and snuggly, always happy and laughing in the morning, commanding and independent, resourceful and nurturing. All these different Personalities all together in one curayzee family. Now we have our newest addition and we know a little about her, Lulu loves to be with others, sweet and anxious, smiley and busy, we are waiting to see what else we will learn about her.
